Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development of Uganda visits the Alabuga Special Economic Zone
The Alabuga special economic zone was visited by a delegation from Uganda, including the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, the Assistant Commissioner for Labour, a member of the Parliament of Uganda, as well as representatives of the Embassy of Uganda in the Russian Federation.
The guests were introduced to the Alabuga Start programme - an opportunity for employment in a large international company, within which young women can develop professional skills from scratch in various fields, combining work with learning the Russian language and culture.
A meeting was also held with programme participants from Uganda. “I saw how very, very happy they look. I had the opportunity to talk to each of them personally, and this left a very positive impression on me. When I return home, I will be fully confident that this is a good programme and that it gives us great hope,” noted Esther Davinia Anyakun, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
During the visit, the parties discussed the importance of the programme for developing practical competencies among young women, the possibilities of expanding the programme’s activities in the Republic of Uganda, as well as prospects for further employment — both in Russia and in their home country.
